There's Story in Them Thar Hills
I managed to hit a wide vein last night in my attempts to run down this story that's been pestering me. I started out by writing an outline of the piece somewhat slowly, getting an idea of events and character. I spent an hour on this, and had 3 single-spaced pages by the time I was done. It was only 9 so I decided to get cracking on the story to see if, with the outline, I could come at it a lot better than I had been in the previous draft. Cut to, 11:30 PM and 4000 words later, and I'm coming up on the lull just before the big climactic scene in which our heroes have to take to a virtual game world to secure the McGuffin with the aid of their netmagic. The upside of this is that I'm a solid hour or so away from finishing the story. The downside is, I'm easily going to be over word count and I'm flat freaking exhausted today.
But it's really nice to know that there's still story in them thar hills.
