Last Night's Lost Episode: What Happened to this Show?
The last several episodes have been written around flashbacks that haven't told us anything new about the central characters. The A storylines have been revealing minor and unimportant aspects of the island, while leaving the big questions completely unanswered. It is those questions that drew in the audience. It is the lack of answers to those questions that have been turning a large portion of the internet fan base against the show.
Season finales and season launches have always been the best episodes in Lost. I am beginning to think that if I only watched the last 2 and first 2 episodes of a season, I wouldn't miss too terribly much as far as the big questions. I don't mind character-centric episodes, but they have to be fresh and new. Sayid's episode tonight didn't feel new at all. Yes, Sayid was a torturer, and he regretted what he did. I don't think that has ever been in question for me.
Lost: a season arc. Found: lots of pointless and unentertaining filler.
