Photo of the Day: Step Dancers
This is one of my absolute favorites from the parade. I snapped several off as the step dancers went by, and none of them turned out right... except for this one, and it was a surprise to me. Usually, I know what a picture is going to look like when I take it, but there was so much action going on that I had no idea where I had snapped this photo in the sequence of things. I caught them on a high step, with their hair bouncing up, and the facial expressions were just perfect.

Thanks, Al!
If you want, you can always click through on that image to Flickr and see a larger resolution version. The focal depth turned out great there, for sure. My 40-150mm (4:3, so on a regular camera, that would be 80-300) lens is fantastic for that. And I shoot in aperture priority mode to encourage DoF.

Though the net image is rather small to truly judge, the focus depth on that image looks simply amazing. Definitely a good surprise photo.
