Photo of the Day: Jerry G.

Jerry G. is never Jerry. Always Jerry G. He's lived in Centennial for as long as I have known him, drifting from small job to small job. When i first met him, he a bartender at the Trading Post. Recently, one of the restaurant/hotel/gas station combo businesses, the Friendly Store, hired him on as their cook. Before that, he was living in his truck, and I don't know where his money was coming from. Probably gigs with the band, Centennial's finest jam band, Mumbletypeg, and the small tips that he gets from acting with the Centennial theatre.

I have never seen Jerry G. wearing anything besides tie-dye.

Jerry G. is one of warmest, funniest people I have met. He has a laugh like a bad chest cold. It rumbles up from his lungs like an easy cough, and I can't help but join in when he starts. He's a genius of comedic timing, always firing off quips before you can think of anything witty to say yourself. This picture captures his wit wonderfully. I have pictures of Jerry G. playing, pictures of him contemplating his bass, but this is the picture that represents him as a person.

Watching him play is a real treat. Most bass players that I have seen will stand still, maybe sway from side to side a bit, but they take the back stage and don't show off. Jerry G. bounces. He litterally bounces barefoot on the stage, from side to side, in time with the music. He dances and plays music like he laughs. You can't help but join in.
