YA Science Fiction?

I am trying to read some YA science fiction while I work on my first novel, but I am coming up short on recent YA SF. Can anyone give me some good titles they would recommend from the past 5 years? I am not interested in reading any Heinlein juveniles (read most of them already anyway). There is tons of YA fantasy, and I'm up a bit more on that and have requested some from the library. Where's the YA SF? Links to overview articles would be great, if you have any. No need to reinvent the wheel.

Scott Westerfeld has written some really good YA SF. His Uglies trilogy is really cool SF. Peeps and The Last Days are both about vampires, but they're explained scientifically (though it's tough to call the books SF).

Susan Beth Pfeffer's Life As We Knew It is post-apocalyptic YA SF, as is The City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau.

You're right though, that while YA fantasy is everywhere, YA SF is much harder to come by. I'd be interested to see what you come up with, if you compile a reading list.

Check with the Andre Norton Award committee, maybe?
