The Honeysuckle Ant Mines
When in doubt of things to photograph, turn back to your own back yard.
I was browsing through Flickr last night looking at the macros of other phtoographers, and I got pretty jealous. There were some amazing insects in other states to photograph. Sometimes, I forget how, here in the mountains, there is a lot less diversity of life. There's so much more going on in Colorado than Wyoming, but even Kansas seems to have more insect species to offer than Colorado. I chalk that up to the altitude and climate.
I really need to take a photography vacation to some place wet and full of wonders, like the Pacific Northwest, or Florida. I can only imagine the wonders I could capture with my lens down there.
Last night, I posted a bit of flash fiction here that was too long for the Daily Cabal. Scroll back an entry if you're interested. I don't generally find it worth the time to submit anything so short. The money I end up making from something that short doesn't cover the time and effort of stuffing envelopes and writing cover letters. And it's a ghost story. I don't usually write those, although an argument could be made that lately, it's all I have been writing.
