Imagine my surprise

I've started reading George RR Martin's first book in his uber-fantasy series. I am shocked to find that I quite like it so far. I didn't think I liked this kind of fantasy. But apparently there is still a little kid somewhere inside me that loves knights, kings, and court intrigue. Even if the adult in me firmly believes that the only good king is one with his head removed.

That reminds me that I am really looking forward to Charlie Finlay's Revolutionary War fantasy books. I don't know anything about them, but the idea of fantasy set in that time period really excites me.
