Misc.

In case you missed it last night, Dr. Roundbottom was updated last night. That post marks the end of my stock of materials. So I need to get cracking on producing more. I got a lovely pocket watch for Christmas yesterday from the In-Laws, which I will probably photograph and write up something fantastical about. And I have one image in inventory that's ready to go on the site.

With winter here, it's hard for me to continue in the vein that I had been. I imagine the good doctor himself would be frustrated by winter as well. Insects and faeries alike hibernate or die off in the winter, except for certain unusual cases. We'll be seeing one of those unusual cases in the near future.

In personal life news, I've kept up the writing all week so far. I've got 3,000 words of not great prose about a cool idea. But first drafts are meant to be rewritten, and I have optimism that I can rewrite it better once it's done. I think my first drafts are often about finding the plot. I can a lot of the time go back in and trim a lot of scenes that I wrote while waiting for the way to move the plot forward to come to me. Revising is something I need to get better at, once I can just get myself back up to my level of peak skill. I'm very rusty at the moment.

Last night, Sarah and I went Salsa dancing at the Rio. I'm not a big dancer, unless it's club/techno/industrial, but I gave her Salsa dancing lessons for Christmas last year, so I thought it was time we finally went out and hit the dance floor in public. I'm not great. She is, though, and makes me look pretty good. We did a half-hour refresher course to remember what we'd learned in the class, and then danced for about an hour. After that, I was so beat, and it was getting to be my bed time, so home we went. I think I can safely say that a good time was had by all. And we'll probably be spending most of our Tuesday nights there.
