This Means War
We are currently seeing the first example I know of non-states-based internet warfare. The group Anonymous has declared war on the Church of Scientology and have been hitting the CoS's online assets hard. The first I heard of it was this creepy-yet-awesome propaganda video released by Anonymous:
Digg is full of stories about this:
What part will you play in the war on Scientology?

Gawker's Guide to the War on Scientology
Updates on the war have been appearing here. Last I looked, most of the Scientology websites were down due to attacks. Additionally, Anonymous has been posting all kinds of crazy Tom Cruise-related videos and Scientology propaganda videos in the usual channels. CoS has something taken down, they pop it back up somewhere else like a digital game of wack-a-mole.
We are living the future right now. There is a massive, distributed, uncoordinated attack on an entity occurring right now. In the 90s, we would have called this "CYBER-WAR!" or something similarly hokey.
I don't know about you, but I am completely fascinated. The future is never what we expect, and almost always stranger.
