The weekend ahead

Tonight, I am going to move my client's new site to the live environment. After that, I'll probably relax to some episodes of the Daily Show I need to catch up on. Then, back to the Illustrator videos. I learned a couple of useful things yesterday. I wanna draw cute little characters for some bizzare reason. I hope illustrator will teach me how to do it.

I should probably work more then on my own website. A friend of mine told me that the new design didn't say "me" like the existing ones do. My goal is to develop a more professional site, and I just don't feel comfortable directing potential clients to a site covered in insects--not that I support insect phobia or anything. I just don't want to be stupid about it.

Then there's Shadowrun on Sunday and who knows what other trouble I can get into. Maybe more photography, if I can think of something to shoot. I keep wanting to find good subjects for HDR. So far, I have failed on that regard. The house picture from last night (two entries prior to this) started out as an attempt to get some dusk HDR, but what I've realized is, HDR doesn't work in that kind of lighting environment very well, especially when you're using flashes. Still, at least one of the shots was salvageable, I think. Anybody want to buy a print of that one?

Oh, and some good news. It looks like I will only have to submit one new image on Monday to be reconsidered for iStock. I think I'll try using one of the shots I did of Sarah last weekend. I still don't know what purple fringing they were talking about--I looked at it closely and couldn't see anything except some specular highlights. If anything, the image was a tad noisy. Sokay though, I was shooting with an inferior macro kit on that shoot, so newer stuff will do better.

Have I talked about iStock? Well, I'm trying to set myself up with a passive income stream or two so that I am not so reliant on a boss for paying the bills. iStock is a micro stock resource site that artists can join and sell their work through. Not all of my photos are art, but some of them are just useful. I don't expect to get rich, but maybe I'll offset my own stock resource costs with it or something. The bloody hobby has yet to pay for itself, and I told Sarah it would at least pay for the camera when I bought it 3 years ago. Hahaha, I was so foolish!

So it's a weekend of extending myself creatively. If the weather turns south, maybe I will try to come up with a story to write. I need to start penning a new Roundbottom serial for that new image.

Guh. So tired. This day needs to be over soon.
